Who We Are

Change Memphis is a coalition of three organizations, the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center, New Path Memphis, and Concerned Memphians United, created to educate the residents of Memphis about the changes to the city charter. Change Memphis will work to register voters and educate them about the Charter Commission's proposed amendments.. Change Memphis believes that if residents are aware of the issues, then they will have an opportunity to digest the information and register an informed vote. This Community Voting Project provides us the opportunity to bring families, civic leaders, neighborhood groups, and religious institutions together to increase voter participation and empower residents to uphold their individual values.  By educating and encouraging local residents to discover the impact of their collective efforts, Change Memphis strives to implement positive change in the Memphis community.

The Memphis City Charter Commission has been working to give the people of Memphis a voice in the reconstruction of the city's government. We believe that the charter changes deserve careful study and serious consideration from all sides and perspectives. Many of the potential changes to the charter could impact the city and its governance for many years to come. It is important that community members make well-informed decisions about the amendments to produce a more efficient, accountable, and responsive city government.
